Who said healthy food is boring?! This simple recipe is an exciting and internationally admired one, it’s very easy to follow, can be prepared in a matter of minutes, and it's so flavorful it will be a definite win for your weekend dinner plans with your friends and family. This dish usually includes a generous amount of olive oil, but for the sake of staying healthy, we suggest you reduce it just a tiny bit. But worry not, this doesn’t change how delicious the outcome will be.

Ingredients:

  1. Large and meaty shrimps. If you want to go for smaller ones, make sure to reduce their cooking time to avoid overcooking them.
  2. Garlic.
  3. Mild Spanish paprika.
  4. Extra virgin olive oil.
  5. Crushed red pepper flakes.
  6. Chopped parsley.

Other Variations:

  1. If you prefer making garlic butter shrimp, replace the olive oil with butter.
  2. If you want to go for a more South American flavor, replace the parsley with cilantro and add some lemon juice to the recipe.

How to Prepare The Dish:

  • Begin Cooking The Shrimps: Place them on your frying pan right after the olive oil begins to smoke, and keep flipping them.
  • Add The Seasonings: While they’re cooking, add the garlic, the Spanish paprika, the crushed red pepper flakes, and the chopped parsley. Then, keep stirring them until they mix well.
  • Reduce Heat: Now, reduce the heat and let them cook slowly for about 2 to 3 minutes until you feel like they’re ready to be served. But it’s important to keep stirring them to avoid burning or overcooking.

  • Why is This Recipe Healthy?

Shrimps are a rich and natural source of essential nutrients like iodine, which is an important mineral for proper thyroid function and brain health. Moreover, they are also a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, making them the perfect addition to your diet.
